No Creative Fun Day in December

Since so many people were out of town - having visitors - or unavailable in one way or another, there will be no December Creative Fun Day.  We will start again in January on the third Saturday which will be January 18.   We hope to see you then.  Until our next visit and/or the next post to the blog:

SEPTEMBER CREATIVE FUN DAY

I was a little lazy this summer and not only did I fail to post pictures of July and August's Creative Fun Days, I didn't even post an invitation announcement for August.    So here are a few pictures.
Sewing a doll skirt

 Duct tape weaving
 Friendship Bracelet
Collage bases - the first two are made from covers of an old square book

This old wood puzzle was gessoed and then painted for a collage base.
The painted pieces waiting for more collage layers
So hopefully these photos were inspiring and you are interested in joining us for our next Creative Fun Day.

July Creative Fun Day

I definitely got sidetracked this past month.  I now realize that I didn't even post about what we did in June.  It was another good day with drawing and painting, collaging and good conversation going on throughout the house.

Next Saturday, July 20 is this month's Creative Fun Day from 12:30 - 5:30. I anticipate that it will be another great time of being creative in many ways.  Hope to see you there.  As always - here is a link for more information.  If you have questions, leave them in the comments section.

Hope you are having a creative and relaxing summer!

JUNE CREATIVE FUN DAY - June 15

June's Creative Fun Day will be this upcoming Saturday June 15 from 12:30 - 5:00.  It is hard to believe that we are already in the sixth month of 2013!   Bring  a project, an idea or just yourself for some time creating and interacting with one another.  You never know what kind of creative things will happen!  (The colorful cross is a project from the May CFD.)

Hope to see you all soon.

Creative Fun Day Update

We had a lovely May Creative Fun Day on the 18th. I was a bit tired after trying to hold a garage sale in the rain in the morning.   The garage sale didn't go well, but Fun Day did!   It was generally a thinking and creating ideas day and we all had fun.   Ginny worked on a story that she was going to share at an upcoming event.  Once she had it written it down, she shared it with all of us and it was wonderful.

Elizabeth made a hand stitched pillow with her own growing sewing skills.  It turned out great.

Rachel worked on sorting photos in her computer and Christy worked on ideas for her book.   There were a lot of computers out and in operation this Creative Fun Day.

I worked on a tie dye fleece tie pillow in the shape of a cross that was part of a craft kit.  It turned out to be a unique little project and I forgot to take a picture of it before I gave it away.

Next month's Creative Fun Day will be on June 15.  Come and join us.

MAY CREATIVE FUN DAY

Creative Fun Day!
May 18
Next Saturday is Creative Fun Day for the month of May.  It is also a great day to go to garage sales in the morning and bring your fun finds to the house to use for creative projects in the afternoon.  I may even have a garage sale in the morning and hwho knows what will be left after that that we can create with.  I hope to see you all on Saturday anytime from 12:30 to 5:30 for some springtime creative fun!

April Creative Fun Day Update!

We had a great Creative Fun Day last Saturday.   There was painting and sewing and felting and tile making with lots of laughter and good stories.  Here are some of the group's creations.

Elizabeth made a skirt for her doll. (She hopes to make a shirt next month.)
She also created some colorful alcohol ink tiles.
Jenny also used the alcohol inks and made a series of matching tiles that turned out beautifully

Cherith worked on this beautiful book of sayings and pictures that she periodically updates for her mother.  This is such a cool idea!

Suzie embellished this hooded vest with a variety of clasps and closures for a young child to work on fine motor skills while enjoying a game of dress up.
She also made these unique felted dryer balls....

She also taught Laura how to make one.
Rachel was helping Elizabeth with the tiles and made this cool marble looking tile.
Then she sat down and diligently painted and created this amazing series of paintings.
For more information and better pictures of these paintings go to Rachel's Umbrellis blog

And now for the latest exciting news - Creative Fun Day has gone national!

Our dear friend and Creative Fun Day participant Sarah moved to Greenville, South Carolina and started Creative Fun Day down there.  Here is what was created in Greenville:

Fishtailed Friendship Bracelets with beads:

Decorative Covered Cork Board

It was a great Creative Fun Day.  Plan now to join us next month (May 18) in either our Tennessee or South Carolina locations.  :)

April Creative Fun Day

Next Saturday, April 20 will be our next Creative Fun Day!   It has been a very busy few weeks at the Muse Services home, but Creative Fun Day has not been forgotten. I just forgot to post.   I also have not planned anything special in terms of a theme or snacks, but that could change at any time.  :)   Having creative fun is always the theme so bring your projects, ideas, books, etc and spend some time with other creative people working and laughing and creating together.    Hope to see you on Saturday!   We can celebrate spring together.

March Creative Fun Day Recap

After a very quiet Creative Fun Day in February, March was filled with activity and creative conversation and lots of different cakes in mugs!

I will start with the projects.

Ginny made wrappers and labels for her homemade soap which she sells at her Etsy shop at this link All Nature Sings

I worked on a project making Easter grass paper by heating and ironing plastic Easter grass.  It can be punched with a decorative punch for embellishing items in a unique way.
Laura started a project in which she is turning a bottle into a chalkboard.  This was step one - paint the bottle.
Andrew drew some pictures, but I didn't get to take any pictures of those before he left and Jessi was working on her Expo project and that has to remain a secret project until the Expo on April 17.

Now for the mug cakes!

Andrew was our first "cook" and he made a chocolate mug cake.

Rachel made a s'more's mug cake, but she ate hers before we had a chance to take a picture of it.  (I didn't get a picture of mine either.)

Annika stopped by and made a chocolate mug cake with marshmellows which she took home and shared with her father.

Laura and Jessi both made peanut butter and chocolate mug cakes.  Here is Laura's:
 and here is Jessi's:

It was a very enjoyable day.  I hope you can join us next month for some creative fun on April 20!
