October's Creative Fun Day

OCTOBER
CREATIVE FUN DAY

Saturday, October 20

Our next Creative Fun Day is coming a week from today.  Join us next Saturday, October 20 to create and share ideas and fun with other creative people. Bring a project you are already working on - or bring an idea that you want to get started - or just show up and we will have a fun project for you to work on.  Since it is October, maybe this would be a good weekend to work on making your Halloween costume - or some fall decorations.  The house will be open between 12:30 and 5:00.  Come and share in the creative fun.   For more information click on this link.

Hope to see you there!

September Creative Fun Day Re-cap

We had a great time at the month's Creative Fun Day.  It started out quietly as several of the regulars were unable to attend.  I worked on painting some record bowls, just to see what would happen.  I didn't get far enough along to take a picture of them yet.

The real fun started when Christy, Caroline and Elizabeth arrived.  The plan was to make ugly dolls.  Caroline had found a great owl-type patter that made a great base for the dolls.  Fabric was chosen, cut out, embellishments were added and the sewing machine was fired up to create some beautiful ugly dolls.  (Is that an oxymoron?)

Here is Elizabeth's doll:
Here is the front and back of Caroline's doll:

Caroline positioned the pattern beautifully to make the Inn fit the back of the doll!  I love the creativity here.

Even Scout got into the "creative fun".  To stuff the ugly dolls, we used batting from an old pillow.  Scout found the open pillow and decided it would be "fun" to "create" a new bed and comfy spot from what we did not use.   (Great idea for recycling Scout!)

Join us for more fun and creativity in October on Saturday, October 20 for the next Creative Fun Day!

September Creative Fun Day

CREATIVE FUN DAY

We had a peaceful and fun Creative Fun Day in August.  Sorry that I didn't make an updated post, but although the three of us that participated were active in creative endeavors they were more thinking based activities and didn't really lead to interesting photographs.   Laura worked on updating a wedding planner for her newly engaged sister, Ashley worked on graphics and pictures for her graduate project and I did some blog and idea planning work.

Our September Creative Fun Day will be on Saturday, September 15.  We hope to see you all there.  For more information on Creative Fun Day, click here!

August Silly Holiday Calendar

Here is the August calendar of silly and fun holidays.  I wrote about using it on my Month of Days blog here and thought I would post it here if anyone else wanted to celebrate these unique and interesting days.   You can click on if for a larger view or download it as a jpg to print a copy of your own.   Enjoy

August Creative Fun Day

We had a great time at July's Creative Fun Day.  The third Saturday this month is August 18.  So put that on your calendars for the next Creative Fun Day.   Bring whatever creative project, art, craft, writing or similar activity that you would like to work on.  And if you don't have a particular project, come anyway and we will find something that you will enjoy doing.

We look forward to seeing you there!

July Creative Fun Day Update

We had a great time at this month's Creative Fun Day!   A total of seven people participated this month and a variety of fun things were created - and at least started.

Here is a picture of what the living room floor looked like at one point in the afternoon as we were all working from a similar pile of tools and materials.
What a happy creative mess.  :)

Everyone participated in an outdoor creative project called Art Bombs mixing paint, vinegar and baking soda in plastic bags that were supposed to explode on the paper.  Planned explosions were minimal, but a good stomping from a willing foot, created some wild patterns and colors.  Here are a couple of pictures of our finished project.  (Note that Scout is doing some art appreciation - or investigation in the second photo.)

With help from Laura and Jess we got this picture into the garage so that it didn't get caught in last nights rainfall.  Even with the rain, my driveway is still quite colorful and that makes me smile.

Other projects included a beautiful butterfly book by Elizabeth.

A colorful and creative butterfly bookmark by Caroline
A perfect fabric scrap rosette by Jess
A really cool re-purposed t-shirt by Laura

An unfinished "word-bird" by Jil (who will hopefully finish it soon)
Some to-be-added- to prayer flags by Rachel

Rachel also has a fun post with other pictures about July's Creative Fun Day at her blog Umbrellis .
Check out her post and photos and the professional glamor shot of Scout.

I hope that this post inspires you to join us for our next Creative Fun Day - August 18!!
