April Creative Fun Day Update!

We had a great Creative Fun Day last Saturday.   There was painting and sewing and felting and tile making with lots of laughter and good stories.  Here are some of the group's creations.

Elizabeth made a skirt for her doll. (She hopes to make a shirt next month.)
She also created some colorful alcohol ink tiles.
Jenny also used the alcohol inks and made a series of matching tiles that turned out beautifully

Cherith worked on this beautiful book of sayings and pictures that she periodically updates for her mother.  This is such a cool idea!

Suzie embellished this hooded vest with a variety of clasps and closures for a young child to work on fine motor skills while enjoying a game of dress up.
She also made these unique felted dryer balls....

She also taught Laura how to make one.
Rachel was helping Elizabeth with the tiles and made this cool marble looking tile.
Then she sat down and diligently painted and created this amazing series of paintings.
For more information and better pictures of these paintings go to Rachel's Umbrellis blog

And now for the latest exciting news - Creative Fun Day has gone national!

Our dear friend and Creative Fun Day participant Sarah moved to Greenville, South Carolina and started Creative Fun Day down there.  Here is what was created in Greenville:

Fishtailed Friendship Bracelets with beads:

Decorative Covered Cork Board

It was a great Creative Fun Day.  Plan now to join us next month (May 18) in either our Tennessee or South Carolina locations.  :)

April Creative Fun Day

Next Saturday, April 20 will be our next Creative Fun Day!   It has been a very busy few weeks at the Muse Services home, but Creative Fun Day has not been forgotten. I just forgot to post.   I also have not planned anything special in terms of a theme or snacks, but that could change at any time.  :)   Having creative fun is always the theme so bring your projects, ideas, books, etc and spend some time with other creative people working and laughing and creating together.    Hope to see you on Saturday!   We can celebrate spring together.

March Creative Fun Day Recap

After a very quiet Creative Fun Day in February, March was filled with activity and creative conversation and lots of different cakes in mugs!

I will start with the projects.

Ginny made wrappers and labels for her homemade soap which she sells at her Etsy shop at this link All Nature Sings

I worked on a project making Easter grass paper by heating and ironing plastic Easter grass.  It can be punched with a decorative punch for embellishing items in a unique way.
Laura started a project in which she is turning a bottle into a chalkboard.  This was step one - paint the bottle.
Andrew drew some pictures, but I didn't get to take any pictures of those before he left and Jessi was working on her Expo project and that has to remain a secret project until the Expo on April 17.

Now for the mug cakes!

Andrew was our first "cook" and he made a chocolate mug cake.

Rachel made a s'more's mug cake, but she ate hers before we had a chance to take a picture of it.  (I didn't get a picture of mine either.)

Annika stopped by and made a chocolate mug cake with marshmellows which she took home and shared with her father.

Laura and Jessi both made peanut butter and chocolate mug cakes.  Here is Laura's:
 and here is Jessi's:

It was a very enjoyable day.  I hope you can join us next month for some creative fun on April 20!

March Creative Fun Day

It has been a busy few weeks, but that just makes taking time out for creativity more important.

This month's
CREATIVE FUN DAY
will be this
Saturday, March 16 from 12:30-5:30.
Come and work on a project for school, a project for fun or any project that you want to work on.  For this month's treat we will have the ingredients for a variety of microwave cakes in a mug available for you to create and experiment with.  You may want to bring your own big mug to use.  Let me know if you have any favorite flavors that you might want to try.  I have made a few of these already and they work out quite well!  Yum

Hope to see you Saturday!

February Creative Fun Day Update

I had a Creative Fun Day - and nobody came.

Well this was the first time in 14 months of Creative Fun Days that I was the only person that "showed up".  It was a bit disappointing, but I maintained my commitment to being creative for those 5 hours.  I didn't really complete anything that I can take a picture of, but I did do some creative writing for an upcoming project and I sorted through lots of different ideas and supply boxes. I was able to work on my month of days project and finally came up with an idea to move forward on that project and hope to be able to finish it next week.

Hope to see you in March.

FEBRUARY CREATIVE FUN DAY IS COMING

It is hard to believe that February is already here!   Next Saturday, February 16 will be our next Creative Fun Day.  Bring a project to work on, an idea to share or just bring yourself and we will find something fun for you to do.   Stop by any time between 12:30 and 5:30.

This month we hope to be offer the opportunity to do some paper marbling using shaving cream.  It is fun and easy and the finish paper can be used for a lot of different things.

We hope to see you there!

January Creative Fun Day Re-cap

We had a great Creative Fun Day on Saturday.  We were able to meet in between the Thursday snowfall that shut down schools and colleges on Friday and the cold temperatures that are forecast for the start of the week.

Along with each individual project, everyone helped the others on their various projects and we all had lots of creative and fun conversations.

Here are some of the creative projects that came to life on Saturday.

Ginny beaded these bracelets…..
To add to the ones she had already made.
Rachel made everyone happy by choosing to do some creative baking while she was with us.  She made these lime mini bundt-like cakes.  They were as delicious as they looked.  (Hopefully this will inspire others to bake and share at Creative Fun Day.  Hint – hint.)
Cherith collaged a beautiful notebook for a friend.

She also participated in the group project which was making alcohol ink tiles.
Makenna joined us and made some tiles as well.

So did her sister Annika
Makenna also drew a great picture of Mickey Mouse.
Laura stopped by to offer help and support and gave me some good ideas.  I worked on some small projects such as painting/staining these crates with water color ink.  I hope to use them for inspiration boxes.
I also made a new name button by covering an old pin back button with a lemon wedge strainer that I stained with alcohol inks.  I cut felt to make my name.
While everyone was working on alcohol ink tiles, I decided to try the new brush tip Sharpies I got for Christmas on one of the blank tiles.
Hope you will be joining us in February!
